Kampong Speu Province: In the morning of Tuesday, the 11th day of the waxing moon of the month of Bhadrapada, Year of the Horse (Attasak), B.E. 2570—corresponding to September 22, 2026—the Department of Policy organized a workshop at Kampong Speu High School to reflect on research findings regarding “Best Practices and Challenges in Implementing Model Secondary School Standards: Understanding Community Participation.” The event was presided over by H.E. Dr. Dy Khamboly, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Policy and Planning—representing H.E. Dr. Ung Borath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport—and was attended by leadership and educational staff from units under the Ministry and the National Institute of Education, as well as chiefs, deputy chiefs, and educational staff from the Provincial Departments of Education, Youth and Sport of Battambang, Preah Sihanouk, Mondulkiri, Kratie, and Prey Veng provinces, totaling approximately 70 participants (including 12 women). This workshop is supported by the World Bank under the General Education Improvement Project – Additional Financing (GEIP-AF).

The workshop aims to review and validate research findings and recommendations, as well as gather additional input from stakeholders to ensure the research report is comprehensive in all aspects. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Excellency Dr. highlighted three key points: (1) harmonizing “Model School” standards across all educational levels and formalizing their implementation; and (2) compiling identified best practices into a reference guide to assist schools in successfully implementing these Model School standards.
